The first woman to head the Société des alcools du Québec in its 100-year history, Catherine Dagenais has led the company since June 2018. A visionary and a retailing enthusiast, she has set ambitious performance and customer experience goals.
Holding an executive MBA (McGill-HEC Montréal) and a bachelor’s in business administration – marketing option, Catherine Dagenais has solid experience in sales network management.
Ms. Dagenais joined the SAQ in 2000 as a district manager. In 2008, she was appointed Vice-President, Sales Network Operations, and, in 2014, Vice-President, Retail Strategy and Customer Experience. As such, she spearheaded a major organizational transformation that resulted in the creation of an omnichannel customer experience, including the Click, Purchase, Pick Up service and SAQ Inspire.
In 2017, Ms. Dagenais became Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer in which position she led all employees working in sales, merchandising, supply chain, real estate development and sustainable development.
The following year, in 2018, as President and Chief Executive Officer of the SAQ, she was named the most influential personality in wine by La Revue du vin de France magazine, alongside Emmanuel Macron, president of the French Republic.
Known for her energy, dedication and human approach, Ms. Dagenais is a unifying leader. Her skill at building productive business partnerships and maximizing growth and profitability enable her to actively contribute to the SAQ’s ongoing development.
