Biography

George D. Schindler is President and Chief Executive Officer of CGI and serves as a member of its Board of Directors. Since his appointment to the position in October 2016, he has led and collaborated with the executive team to continuously strengthen CGI’s market position through its “Build and Buy” profitable growth strategy.

Together with his global leadership team, Mr. Schindler guides CGI’s consultants and professionals as they partner with clients to lead, innovate, and deliver on the transformational power of technology in a digitally connected world. A particular focus of Mr. Schindler’s is enabling everyday innovation at the project level to help clients achieve tangible business results.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Mr. Schindler served as President and Chief Operating Officer since May 2015, where he led the company’s global operations.

Mr. Schindler has served in numerous leadership roles across CGI’s operations and its end-to-end services portfolio. He joined CGI through the company’s acquisition of American Management Systems, Inc. (AMS) and subsequently led the strategy and growth of the U.S. business serving commercial and government clients. In prior leadership roles, Mr. Schindler led the company’s Canadian operations, its portfolio of banking and investments intellectual property (IP), and was responsible for operations in the Greater New York region.

From 2006 to 2011, Mr. Schindler served as President of CGI Federal, a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary serving U.S. government clients. As President, he led the integration of a $1 billion acquisition, adding capabilities and scale to the overall U.S. business.

A champion of CGI’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, Mr. Schindler is one of the founders and executive sponsors for CGI’s Dream Connectors program, which connects the talents of the firm’s consultants with the needs of the more than 400 communities where they live and work every day. He also supports various charitable organizations and is a proponent for the firm’s environmental and economic sustainability initiatives as demonstrated by CGI’s inclusion in the top indices, including the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

A recognized industry leader, Mr. Schindler is based at the company’s global headquarters in Montréal, and frequently speaks and writes about technology and business strategy topics. Mr. Schindler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Purdue University.
