The decarbonization of our economy needs to be addressed on a global scale, as GHG emissions generated across the country, or the world, do not remain within our borders and their impact is felt everywhere.
Québec is in a particularly advantageous position to contribute to decarbonizing the steel industry, one of the world's most polluting industries.
With vast resources of some of the purest iron ore, a regulatory framework based on the highest environmental standards and thanks to renewable energy, we have the power to propel the transition to green steel together.
Champion Iron’s CEO, David Cataford, will present his vision of this societal project that would enable us to accelerate the energy transition and effectively tackle climate change.
David Cataford joined Champion Iron in 2014 and has been its Chief Executive Officer since 2019.
Under his leadership, the Company has led investment projects of more than $1 billion in the Labrador Trough and continues to sustainably mine its resources of high-purity iron, a critical and strategic mineral needed to decarbonize the steel industry.
With its substantial portfolio of exploration and development projects, Champion Iron is positioned as a key player in the green steel supply chain. The company is committed to creating long-term value for all stakeholders, particularly in the regions where it operates, and proudly maintains a strong, trust-based partnership with First Nations communities.
